As another year comes to an end, GT Couriers reflect on the past 12 months with a year in review – celebrating our progress and learning from the challenges of 2018.

We had some changes within our busy ops department. We sadly said goodbye to a couple of our colleagues, and we wish them all the best in their new ventures. However, we also welcomed our latest additions to Team GT. Transport Planner Ray Elliot has brought a wealth of knowledge to the team and fits the bill perfectly, and our new Administrator Amanda Burley has excelled in her department, hitting the ground running by bringing her experience and ideas to the mix.

Throughout 2018, we have taken on new drivers and vehicles to further service our customer’s requirements and hope to grow our fleet further in the New Year with the purchase of 2 new Luton vehicles. This year we were lucky enough to expand our fleet with several new additions, including a DAF 18ton Box Body and an 18-plate Mercedes-Benz 26ton Actros.

GT Couriers 2018: A Year In Review

We welcomed a number of new clients who are keeping us on our toes. We are building good relationships, learning about their business needs and developing our service to them. We look forward to taking these relationships from strength to strength into 2019!

In March, we began developing our online presence with our friends at Gravity Digital. A new website and active social media platforms across Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn has allowed us to showcase our services and day-to-day business activities – keeping us in the public eye and growing our network.

In June, our trusty driver Stuart was tasked with completing a dedicated European van delivery to sunny Spain! His mission was the secure delivery of crucial events equipment from the UK down to Barcelona’s central conference centre and back again. Read all about his trip here.

Over the summer, we adopted new job booking and dispatch software that will be expanding in the New Yearto incorporate real time PODs, emailed directly from the driver to our clients. This has been a learning curve for us at GT but well worth the initial pain -our customers, ops team and admin office should all reap the benefits going forward.

GT Couriers have had the pleasure of being local superbike rider Ben Godfrey’s main campaign sponsor this year. He welcomed us on board at the beginning of the year and, despite the trials and tribulations of his 2018 racing year, he ended on a high – we couldn’t be prouder to support him. We see big things for Ben this coming year and are delighted to continue our support in 2019.

As we move on into the New Year, uncertain what the future holds for the UK in terms of Brexit, we say “whatever will be will be”. We will adapt to survive and prosper by working closely with our clients, further tailoring our services and monitoring our costs to keep a competitive edge. As they say, “every cloud has a silver lining”, and we will seek out and grab any future opportunities with both hands, whether they come from the UK, Europe or beyond. The world keeps turning and GT are staying on for the ride.

We wish all our colleagues and customers new and old a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year – Here’s to an exciting 2019!
