GT are all geared up for your next urgent Aircraft on Ground delivery (AOG) of parts around the UK and further afield.
Whether it’s an “On Board Courier” (OBC) to move a critical part via small hand carry from East Midlands Airport to Zaventem Airport, Brussels, or to move a much larger Aircraft Generator (Spike Rig) from Rolls Royce Derby to Heathrow by 7.5ton truck – GT have it covered.
We have the vehicles, equipment and personnel to carry out your Aircraft on Ground delivery swiftly and efficiently – minimising aircraft downtime costs.
Our standby OBC Colin recently undertook the very urgent delivery of a cockpit panel switch for a Boeing 767 Cargo Aircraft stranded at Charles de Gaulle (CDG) Airport, Paris.
GT took the call at 3.30am on a Tuesday Morning and were asked to prime up an OBC whilst the part was being located – within 5 minutes the follow-up call came through that the replacement switch was in store at East Midlands Airport. This one was going to be a quick turnaround, providing we could get Colin a flight out of East Midlands.
By 4.05am, Colin had his passport, euros and day bag in hand and had hit the road. Despite best laid plans, he arrived at EMA stores at 4.30am only to find there were no direct flights to CDG from East Midlands.
Plan B it is, then – time to try flights from Birmingham, the next nearest airport. Result! There’s an Air France flight at 8.05am and now a seat with Colin’s name on it.
Colin confirmed he had the switch in hand at 4.40am – the part was no bigger than a desktop stapler and would fit comfortably in Colin’s pocket. Time to head to Birmingham Airport.
Traffic was light fortunately due to the early morning start, and by 6am Colin and the switch were all checked in two hours before departure – time for a well-earned coffee and breakfast!
The flight departed on time, and an hour and a half later Colin arrived at Charles de Gaulle at 10.30am local time to make his way quickly through custom controls.
Colin was then met by the Engineer in CDG Arrivals and the part was signed, sealed and delivered by just before 11am.
Allowing for the time difference, from phone call to delivery GT Couriers turned this around (Derby – Birmingham – Paris) in less than 6.5 hours. Now to get Colin home!
