GT Couriers is delighted to have recently sponsored up-and-coming Junior British wheelchair tennis star Joshua Johns, with a contribution towards the purchase of a competitive wheelchair.

A local lad from Derby, we were approached by Joshua’s dad, Steven, who works for one of our clients (Davies Turner Air Cargo) to see if we would be happy to contribute towards a bespoke RGK Grandslam CX wheelchair, a lightweight chair which would allow Joshua to be more competitive on the world stage.

As a major contributor, the GT Couriers brand is now proudly displayed on the chair itself, courtesy of our good friends Blueprint Nottingham who kindly supplied the sponsorship decals. The chair will get plenty of use both in training and in competition, which started with Joshua competing in the US Open Tennis Championships in New York earlier this month. He competed in the inaugural Junior Wheelchair Grand Slam, having made the world’s top 8 by ranking at no 6.

GT Couriers Directors Jez and Wayne stood behind tennis player Joshua Johns in his brand new competitive wheelchair

We were so pleased to welcome Joshua to GT HQ recently to show off his new chair in all its glory and take some photos with us.

Joshua had this to say about the sponsorship: “I would like to give a huge thank you to Jez and Wayne at GT Couriers for their support towards the purchase of my new RGK Grandslam CX. It is only with the generosity of people like GT Couriers supporting local disabled athletes that I can access the most competitive equipment, and I am truly grateful.”

We can’t wait to watch Joshua go from strength to strength while he puts his new competitive wheelchair to good use. Be sure to follow Joshua on Facebook and Twitter to keep up with his promising tennis career.
